Does my company meet the ecobly standard?

Ecobly companies strive to make products using materials that are environmentally friendly, socially conscious and locally as possible. Vusiness decisions are based on their values – materials that don’t harm the earth and practices that enhance their communities. There are many companies that make "green" products. There are many companies that manufacture locally. Ecobly companies do both, and it is a very unique and valuable place to do business.

To qualify for ecobly membership, products must have these qualities:

–A majority content from within the region where manufacturing occurs

  • • Exceptions will be made for reclaimed raw materials, which have such a small footprint, the shipping adds negligible environmental impact (though they should still be sourced within the country of manufacture)
  • • Individual products or products lines can qualify, as long as the company has an overall commitment to environmental sustainability

–A majority of eco-friendly content

  • • Post-consumer recycled material
  • • Reclaimed material
  • • Forest Stewardship Council-certified or sustainably harvested wood
  • • Agricultural products are organically certified or sustainably grown with no toxics or antibiotics and humanely treated (cage-free, grazing fed)

–Sustainable business operations, such as:

  • • Buildings built or retrofitted with energy saving applications
  • • Company has no EPA, state or local permit or pollution violations in past 5 years
  • • Incorporate less packaging and recycled packaging
  • • Fair labor practices

–Any non-local content adheres to fair trade principles, safe practice guidelines, child- and slave-free labor, animal cruelty-free and non-toxic

–Manufacturing processes are clean: proper recycling, waste processing and removal, compliance with clean water and air laws, energy efficient

–Certifications that will be considered:

  • • USDA Organic or Oregon Tilth
  • • Cruelty-free
  • • Cradle to Grave
  • • Meets EPA certifications for non toxic
  • • Energy Star
  • • LEED

–Ability to fulfill orders

–Ability to be contacted by web or phone

–If a company is owned by a larger corporation, that corporation must support the Ecobly values and not demonstrate unsustainable business practices as a corporate policy.
